Are The Number of Big Homes Growing?
2012 New Home Trends - 4000 Sq Ft + Homes
We've all heard that the average new home size has been shrinking. But it looks like some very interesting things are going on right now with the largest category of new homes - homes that are 4000 or more square feet.

- In 1999 and 2000, homes over 4000 sq ft comprised only 5% of all new homes built.
- In 2001 to 2004, this category of new homes increased to 6% of all new homes
- The percentage of "luxury size" new homes peaked in 2008, after growing steadily for 4 years.
- 4000 Sq Ft homes being built today are a larger percentage than was seen in 6 out of the last 12 years.
