Take a look at these examples (and click on the photos to see the rest of the home).

Big Shower in the Master Bath - Layout #5

The Elk Point master bath has a huge, wide open shower with multiple shower heads and high tile that is replicated across the room.

Roll in wheelchair accessible shower. Grab bars. Tile soap trays.

The Firebird is loaded with grab bars and lots of space to move around - a great aging-in-place design.

  •  Big Shower in the Master Bath - Layout #7

The Judson, a wheelchair accessible home, is a great example of just how big and open a shower can be in a custom home. We're getting requests for this kind of wide open access to the shower for homes that do not require any special accommodations.

Big Shower in the Master Bath - Layout #8

More master bathrooms are going "no tub" - like this shower only en suite bath.

The New River House big shower has a built in bench, with a shape that tapers to allow as much floor space inside and out as possible in a smaller bathroom.

Coordinating colors with a custom tile treatment makes this huge shower even more fun, in the Oak Lane master bath.

2017 New Home Trends: Master Baths with No Tub

We expect to see more master baths without a tub in 2017. Instead, more homes are likely to have showers sized for two to share.

*Design tip: Consider a pocket door in smaller spaces, or where there are multiple doors in a close space.  Just keep in mind that pocket doors can require more homeowner maintenance.

It's common for Jack and Jill bathroom designs to incorporate one or more pocket doors to keep space more open and usable.

No Tub in the Master Bath - Layout #4

In this version of the Oak Lane, an Atlanta Plan Source floor plan, Stanton Homes converted the master shower and tub combination into an enlarged shower design.
